Yann Marussich (1966) is a unique character in the field of performance and contemporary dance as he delivers performances that have a disturbing, provocative, and authentic impact on the audience.

Since 1989, he has signed a score of performances and choregraphies diffused all over Europe and the world. From 1993 to 2000, he worked in parallel in the field of artistic programming as director of the Théâtre de l'Usine (Geneva), where he programmed contemporary dance and more specifically, new forms of expression. He also founded the ADC-Studio (Maison des Arts du Grütli, Geneva) in 1993 and was responsible for its artistic programming from 1993 to 1998. He was an associate artist at the Théâtre du Grütli in Geneva for the 2010 - 2011 season.

Since 2000, Yann Marussich has devoted himself to performance. In 2001, he choreographed Bleu Provisoire, his first completely immobile piece. Since then he has been developing his work in introspection and the control of immobility while exposing his body to diverse solicitations, or even agressions: "Autoportrait dans une fourmilière" (2003); "Morsures" (2004); "Traversée" (2004); "Blessure" (2005); "Soif" (2005); "Verre de nuit" (2006); "Nuit de verre" (2007); "Bleu Remix" (2007); "Ex-pression" (2009); "Bain Brisé" (2010); "L'oeuf et le serpent" (2011); "L'Arbre aux clous" (2011); "Glassed" (2011); "Hyphos"(2012); "Crash" (2012); "Rideau!" (2014); "Blanc et la Chaise" (2015); "Agokwa" (2016); "Frictions 1,2,3" (2016); "Impression corps" (2018) et and many others.

In November 2017, Yann Marussich presented "12 minutes et 34 secondes pour battre la brèche" at the Théâtre du Galpon in Geneva. This performance has marked the beginning of his cycle of work around concrete, which also includes "Le Festin du béton" (presented in December 2017 at La Gravière, Geneva), "El Cubo" (created in 2019 as part of a residency in Montevideo, Uruguay) and "Le toucher" (presented in 2020 at le Grütli, Geneva). During these performances, the artist is literally cast in concrete. At the same time, Yann Marussich is also developing "L'Homme-Béton", which is a transversal project: performances, video performances, writing and drawings.

As a multi-faceted artist, Yann Marussich also dedicates himself to writing, engraving and drawing. He is the author of several works including « Notes d’inemploi (de la performance) » (2012), « Experience of immobility » (2015), « Le festin du béton » (2017), « Poèmes passés à la bétonneuse » (2018). Since 2018, he has been exploring new artistic possibilities with the creation of video-performances. In parallel to his creative activities, Yann Marussich regularly leads workshops and conferences. He is notably invited, in February 2017, in Namur, to hold a Ted Talk on immobility.

In December 2015, a performative exhibition of Yann Marussich's work was programmed at Le Commun (Geneva) entitled "Experience of Immobility - 20 years of performance Acts" and a retrospective of his artistic career was organized in 2018 at Lieu Unique in Nantes.

Since 2011, Yann Marussich has been subsidized by the City of Geneva. Winner of the Ars Electronica prize in the "hybrid art" category with the performance Bleu Remix in 2008, Yann Marussich received the CERN Collide Geneva artistic residency prize in late 2019. In 2022, he was awarded the Swiss Performing Arts Award for his entire career.

In December 2023, Yann Marussich presents LE SUCRE N’EST PAS UNE RÉCOMPENSE (SUGAR IS NOT A REWARD), a major exhibition at Le Commun in Geneva exploring the theme of sugar. This artistic and participatory project offers a critical reflection on the issues of sugar overconsumption, the practices of lobbying groups, and their societal impact. By inviting other artists to contribute, he creates a space for dialogue that is both playful and thought-provoking.

Since 2021, Yann Marussich has continued to explore human and social themes. In France, he collaborates with Kamil Guenatri, a performance artist with reduced mobility, and in Mozambique, he works with a group of war amputees as part of his MISSING BODY project.

In May 2025, he will premiere his piece CORPS MANQUANT at La Comédie de Genève, a duo with Helena, a victim of an anti-personnel mine.
